چکیده

We present a novel 3D face reconstruction technique that leverages sparse photometric stereo (PS) and latest advances on face registration/modeling from a single image. We observe that 3D morphable faces approach[15] provides a reasonable geometry proxy for light position calibration. Specifically, we develop a robust optimization technique that can calibrate per-pixel lighting direction and illumination at a very high precision without assuming uniform surface albedos. Next, we apply semantic segmentation on input images and the geometry proxy to refine hairy vs. bare skin regions using tailored filters. Experiments on synthetic and real data show that by using a very small set of images, our technique is able to reconstruct fine geometric details such as wrinkles, eyebrows, whelks, pores, etc, comparable to and sometimes surpassing movie quality productions.

Adaptive Contour Fitting for Pose-Invariant 3D Face Shape Reconstruction

Motivation Direct reconstruction of 3D face shape—solely based on a sparse set of 2D feature points localized by a facial landmark detector— offers an automatic, efficient and illumination-invariant alternative to the widely known analysis-by-synthesis framework, which is extremely timeconsuming considering the enormous parameter space for both shape and photometric properties. Given 2D landmar...

Single view-based 3D face reconstruction robust to self-occlusion

State-of-the-art 3D morphable model (3DMM) is used widely for 3D face reconstruction based on a single image. However, this method has a high computational cost, and hence, a simplified 3D morphable model (S3DMM) was proposed as an alternative. Unlike the original 3DMM, S3DMM uses only a sparse 3D facial shape, and therefore, it incurs a lower computational cost. However, this method is vulnera...

3D Face Modeling based on 3D Dense Morphable Face Shape Model

Realistic 3D face model is more precise in representing pose, illumination, and expression of face than 2D face model so that it can be utilized usefully in various applications such as face recognition, games, avatars, animations, and etc. In this paper, we propose a 3D face modeling method based on 3D dense morphable shape model. The proposed 3D modeling method first constructs a 3D dense mor...

Dictionary Integration using 3D Morphable Face Models for Pose-invariant Collaborative-representation-based Classification

The paper presents a dictionary integration algorithm using 3D morphable face models (3DMM) for poseinvariant collaborative-representation-based face classification. To this end, we first fit a 3DMM to the 2D face images of a dictionary to reconstruct the 3D shape and texture of each image. The 3D faces are used to render a number of virtual 2D face images with arbitrary pose variations to augm...

Representing Dynamics of Facial Expressions

Motion capture (mocap) is widely used in a large number of industrial applications. Our work offers a new way of representing the mocap facial dynamics in a high resolution 3D morphable model expression space. A data-driven approach to modelling of facial dynamics is presented. We propose a way to combine high quality static face scans with dynamic 3D mocap data which has lower spatial resoluti...
